Treat-ing?

October 31, 2007

A slight chill in the air
   Little goblins and ghosts
      Are easier to scare though
         They have little to fear
Chocolate, candies and raisins
   Populate my goodies basket
      Tempting me to nibble things
         That I should likely avoid
The joy of halloween is the mystery
   Walking door to door, wondering
What suprise will be awaiting you
When you dump your bag on the table
Hidden behind makeup or a mask
A chance to be someone else
      Bolder, more assured, stronger
Able to face the people you meet
Oh, to be a kid again!

Shuffled

Is an iPod really just a metaphor for life?
A cornucopia of people and experiences
Some we are very fond of, in our Top 25
Some rarely touched, but there if we want it
And occasionally, sitting lost in thought
Our mind brings  forward a lost memory
Misplaced, buried, forgotten
That reminds you of what might have been
Of what you lost and makes you wonder
Why you couldn’t have done something, anything
To keep from being shuffled
To the back of someone’s mind?

Love?

October 11, 2007

noun: affection and tenderness felt by lovers

I loved you
   more than I should
      more than I wanted
but no less than you deserved
No strings attached
   but bonds formed
      like a spider’s web
         barely visible yet strong
As all strings do
   they hold you up
      supporting your life
         making things bearable
But now
   they are cut
      and I fall down
         back where you found me
Alone

Bread

Do you Wonder where your slice is?
   Is it in the middle,
      Safe, soft, protected
         Wanted by everyone
   Or on the end
      Darkened, hardened, often discarded
         Except by those select few
            That savor that piece
               That few others want?
